Idle Illustration
Molly Idle’s children’s books and greeting card
illustrations create "Ahhh!”-inspiring reactions.
Influenced by art at polar extremes, Molly has been known to
blend styles of Disney animators with the Masters, particularly
figurative artists like Degas. Her resulting colored-pencil
drawings engage readers with profoundly whimsical, hyper-stylized,
linear naturalism. Perfectly cool words for her heart-touching
style.
A former final line animator for DreamWorks Feature Animation,
Molly worked on the characters Marina in Sinbad, Legend
of the Seven Seas, Little Creek in Spirit: Stallion
of the Cimmaron, and Tulio in The Road to El Dorado.
Her animation credits also include Disney’s Lion King
1½, and PBS’s Liberty’s Kids.
Her children’s books include Emma’s Gift and the
four books in her In-God We Trust series for Abingdon
Press and, most recently, Penguin’s Special Christmas
Tree for Lobster Press.
She also publishes her own line of greeting cards, and is a
contributor to Carus Publishing’s Ladybug magazine.
Her illustration, Highwire Hippo, was recently featured
during the Art Detour in downtown Phoenix.
