Customer Quote

“If Molly Idle drew edible illustrations they’d melt sweetness over your tongue and bloom an irrepressible smile across your face. Yet, as delectably darling as Molly’s characters are, they don’t even touch the woman and inspired thought underlying her artistry. Molly is one of the most original, creative, fun, and giving people I’ve ever met. You’ll love her, too!”

Idle Illustration

Molly Idle’s children’s books and greeting card illustrations create "Ahhh!”-inspiring reactions. Influenced by art at polar extremes, Molly has been known to blend styles of Disney animators with the Masters, particularly figurative artists like Degas. Her resulting colored-pencil drawings engage readers with profoundly whimsical, hyper-stylized, linear naturalism. Perfectly cool words for her heart-touching style.

A former final line animator for DreamWorks Feature Animation, Molly worked on the characters Marina in Sinbad, Legend of the Seven Seas, Little Creek in Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron, and Tulio in The Road to El Dorado. Her animation credits also include Disney’s Lion King 1½, and PBS’s Liberty’s Kids. Her children’s books include Emma’s Gift and the four books in her In-God We Trust series for Abingdon Press and, most recently, Penguin’s Special Christmas Tree for Lobster Press.

She also publishes her own line of greeting cards, and is a contributor to Carus Publishing’s Ladybug magazine. Her illustration, Highwire Hippo, was recently featured during the Art Detour in downtown Phoenix.
